AN IMPRESSIVE RUN AT NEW EGYPT ON MONDAY WAS STOPPED ON LAP 20 WHEN MECHANICAL WOWS ENDED LINEMAN'S FEATURE..
September 6th, 2010, Racing Update: A last hour decision to race at New Egypt Speedway on Labor Day had the Lineman Team busy loading the race hauler and getting to the track. We figured we had a good run Saturday night, and this race at New Egypt was to honor the late John Romano who was a sportsman driver, and fellow competitor that everyone respected and got along with.
Bob started 8th in his heat race and knew he would have to do some quick driving to avoid having to be caught up trying to qualify through one of the consi events. Lineman was on the move, and making passes left and right. By the end of the heat Bob was officially scored as finishing in 3rd which had the team very upbeat.
The crew prepped the USA-1, Cenco Heating Oil, Troyer Chassis racecar during the break between heat races and the consi races. On the redraw Bob picked the 6th starting spot in the feature, which was a great place to be. Things seemed to be going along great upon the start and Bob was content to ride it out for a while since this was a special 84 lap feature event. Then, just as things were looking good, around lap 20 mechanical problems forced Lineman to the pit area which would end his feature run very early. Something happened internally to the race engine, we aren't sure just yet what happened, Lineman commented. If it's something major it might just be the end of our 2010 season, but if it's not to bad we will of course get the engine fixed and be back at it.
